Neale Whitaker steps down as editor-in-chief of Vogue Living
Vogue Living editor-in-chief and The Block judge Neale Whitaker will be stepping down from the News Corp magazine in June in order to “concentrate on his varied media commitments including two television series currently in production”.
Whitaker –who joined Vogue Living three years agoafter a stint as the editor-in-chief of Bauer Media’s Belle magazine – will remain with the magazine as editor-at-large and will continue to write his weekly Living column for News Corp’s Sunday mastheads’ Stellar magazine.
NewsLifeMedia’s prestige and lifestyle director Nick Smith said in a statement: “Neale has led Vogue Living for two and a half years and during this time he has refreshed the magazine, grown the brand through digital and social – in fact, doubling the already formidable social footprint to over 2.5million – and built an impressive events series.
“He also steered the brand brilliantly through the 50th anniversary of Vogue Living. It is a very special collector’s issue and a testament to Neale. I’d like to thank him for the terrific job he’s done as editor of Vogue Living and couldn’t be more delighted that he is remaining with the brand as editor-at-large.”
Whitaker said: “It was a very big decision to step down but I feel privileged to have edited Vogue Living, particularly through such a significant milestone as the brand’s 50th anniversary. I also feel confident that it is absolutely the right time to leave the day-to-day operations with the very talented team here, while being pleased to continue as Vogue Living’s editor-at-large.”
NewsLifeMedia will announce a new editor of Vogue Living in due course.
In the meantime, associate publisher – homes Claire Bradley will continue to guide the brand strategy for Vogue Living. Vogue Australia’s editor-in-chief Edwina McCann will care-take the editorial of the brand until a new editor is appointed.
Whitaker is also the co-host of Foxtel’s Love It Or List It.
His name is Neale.

Hi LW,
You’re right – I’ve fixed that.
Cheers,
Miranda – Mumbrella
Magazines. They ain’t as fun as they used to be. Just a skeleton crew of scared (albeit talented) people clinging to the proverbial sinking ship. Good on you Neale for getting out of that fear-based culture…

Just wanted to congratulate Neale on his work as part of Love It or List It. This show has shown me what a magnificent job a professional designer can make of a house renovation . I was particularly impressed by his work for Mel and Macca and their 9 children . Congratulations !

I truly enjoy all of Neale’s work at all his projects. I particularly love his writing. Upon purchasing every Belle magazine published, in his day as Belle editor, I always looked forward to his editor’s opening notes for the month.
He has such a gift with writing.
I hope to see more of his writing in some form in the future. Such a lovely skill he has alongside his wonderful skill with design and interiors.
